About:

Pumpkin is the first calf to be born on our ranch. She was born on Thanksgiving morning in 2008. Due to the cold weather, she was not doing well, and we took her inside to warm her up. Pumpkin was Annie's first calf, and Annie was confused when we brought Pumpkin back out a few hours later; Annie rejected her baby despite our efforts. We decided that the best thing to do would be to raise Pumpkin in the house because we didn't have a barn, and it was in her best interest to keep warm. For five months, Pumpkin lived in our house. We made a little pen for her in the basement. Since she was a bottle baby and raised in the house, Pumpkin is very friendly and sometimes thinks she is a person and not a cow. She is quiet and calm, and we can do almost anything with her. On August 29, 2009, Pumpkin rode on a float in the Bennett Harvest Festival Parade as a part of the parade entry for our veterinary clinic, Living Springs Vet Clinc. She was a pro!
