About Us
Who Owns the Slingin Dirt Ranch?
We are Jerry and Sarah Rummel. Jerry comes from a life in the city, and I come from a life with horses. We both enjoy have several different types of animals on our 40 acre ranch. We enjoy showing
both our mules, donkeys, and the miniature zebu cattle. Occasionally, Sarah will take Smokey out to compete in a local horse show, too. We work hard to make sure our animals have happy, healthy lives.
Why Miniature Zebu Cattle?
Sarah discovered miniature zebu cattle online. At that time, she had never seen a cow that was so small. She thought they were unique, and began to seek out more information on the breed, and breeders who had
stock available. Our first miniature zebu was purchased in February 2008. Since then, we have discovered how wonderful and fun these small bovines are, and have continued to expand our herd.
What are the Breeding Objectives at Slingin Dirt Ranch?
We believe in breeding for a gentle, quiet temperament and good, healthy conformation. After that, a little color adds some fun! We want all of our animals to be easy to work with, train, and fun to be around. We want them to be
healthy, and happy.
Are the Cattle Easy to Handle?
We socialize and train our calves to halter and lead at a young age. This makes them great fun to have when they get older, whether you're looking for a family pet, a show animal, or just a pasture pal! We like our cattle
to be friendly!
Can I/We come for a Visit?
Visitors are welcome by appointment. It doesn't matter if you are looking to buy something or not. If you want a chance to learn more about miniature zebu cattle, give us a call! We'll schedule an appointment and answer all of your questions.
